One of my criteria for choosing college is food. The school has to have good food. Good is completly objective! By “good” I mean reminds you of eating at Olive Garden or Cheese Cake Factory every night. (Cheese Cake Factory and Olive Garden are completly uncomparable, with Cheese Cake Factory having the upper hand!)

Haha, if your criteria for college food is that it tastes like the Chesecake Factory, you are going to be disappointed. I think BU’s food is great. They have lots of variety and try to mix things up for keep food fresh so it’s not sitting out all the time. But almost no college is going to have food THAT great.

If you want to give it a try look into the Lunch on Us program where you can have lunch in a dining hall with other prospective students and a couple of current ones. It’s a good opportunity to sample the food and talk with some students sans parents.

What do you eat? How picky are you? If you aren’t a really demanding vegetarian, life is easy.

BU has lots of options, including the food court (where you can use dining points). The food prep is influenced by Sargent, so there is a growing emphasis on fresh ingredients, made to order food (at the larger dining halls) and nutrition. West Campus is known for their hamburgers.

I don’t consider Olive Garden food and dislike The Cheesecake Factory. I would place BU food nearer the TCF end of that spectrum, with some options worse and some much better.

The Olive Garden is, hands-down, one of the worst chain restaurants in the country.

haha yeah Olive Garden is pretty disgusting. I would eat anywhere at BU before that place…

Everyone in my small town of Salina raves about Olive Garden, but I know that are so many other restaurants that hale in comparison!

Well, there is an Olive Garden in Boston, in South Bay, on the Dorchester/Southie line. This being Boston, it’s next to a Super88, which for those who don’t know is a fullsized Asian market. That one is huge but it lacks the great food court of the one next to BU. Every single place there, even the mediocre Thai place that just opened, is better than any similar one where I grew up.

I love food on campus. But I am disappointed with hours in the Student Union. I sent a letter to the editor of the Free Press today.
