How's the TV signal in Berkeley (south side)?

I got an used 27" CRT TV for my southside apartment, hooked it up to converter box and antenna, but there was no signal whatsoever. However it worked when a TV cable was plugged in. I even tried a TV tuner and it couldn’t pick up NBC. So does any of you use antenna to receive TV signal in Berkeley or is the only option Comcast? If antenna does work for you, how’s the signal quality?

Doesn’t anybody watch TV using antenna in Berkeley?

my friend had a TV tuner card that used an antenna for his laptop and it picked up plenty of channels. can’t remember which ones specifically, but there were 15+.

I use an antenna on my TV in Berkeley to pick up HD locals. NBC-HD doesn’t come properly because it was being broadcasted all the way from San Jose (the others come from SF/Oakland). Now that everything is digital, I wouldn’t know if NBC-SD would come either now

I live on the northside with a TV antenna and converter box. I pick up plenty of channels, especially since we went digital. The standard Fox, ABC, CBS, and NBC, plus PBS…ya know, the usual. Maybe you’re being blocked by trees, or the antenna doesn’t work.

I also used an antenna last year for the TV in my room. It worked mostly fine, although I did have a little trouble with KNTV (Channel 11-NBC) from time to time. That is because it is broadcast from San Bruno Mountain which is a little ways down the Peninsula while most of the other locals come from Sutro Tower in the city, which has a clear shot across the way to Berkeley. But with a good set of rabbit ears and a little positioning you should be fine.

I have another TV at home, one of those thin HDTV, and it works great with only an antenna plugged in down here in Socal. So it should work fine in Berkeley, right? I don’t understand why my CRT wouldn’t pick up a thing.
