Hi! I am a Sophomore (CO28) and am really interested in attending Georgetown, with a focus on law and government. Is Georgetown’s Summer College a competitive program at all to get in to / to have on a resume? I plan to take 2 courses to earn the Honors Certificate.
Gtown claims not to consider interest so in that sense it won’t help. Great grades, EVs including service that meet their Jesuit mission and a strong test will help.
If you want to learn more about Gtown and validate your interests, then summer classes are a great idea. So is a job at Dunkin or McDonald’s or Kroger or walking dogs at the shelter.
You can reach out : ask your questions but I highly doubt it impacts admission in any way. And other colleges may or may not accept the credit you get.
For GTown, it’s money making ( can your parents afford or do they want to afford?), it probably gets them more eventual apps etc.
So do this for your interest but will it help you gain admission ? I’d think there’s near zero influence there.
So spend your summer as you want, not how a school you may not even be close stat wise to being a realistic candidate wants.
Good luck
Ps - is it competitive ?- another thing to ask. Based on what they’ve written, I’d think not. But can’t say for sure.
