HS Course Selection.

I applied to a prep school and just in case I don’t get accepted I have to go to the local public high school. Today we got the course selection sheets for freshman year and I was wondering what you guys thought about it.

First Trimester
Biology 1 (Two Trimesters)
English 9 (Two Trimesters)
Geometry (Two Trimesters)
French II (Two Trimesters)
Band (Three Trimesters)

Second Trimester
Biology 1 (Two Trimesters)
English 9 (Two Trimesters)
Geometry (Two Trimesters)
French II (Two Trimesters)
Band (Three Trimesters)

Third Trimester
Band (Three Trimesters)
Economics (One Trimester)
World History (One Trimester)
World Cultures (One Trimester)
Michigan History (One Trimester)

We’re required to have two trimesters of PE but I rather do that later in high school.

So I was wondering what you guys thought and what top universities would think of it and if it reaches all of their expectations, etc.

Pretty good. No honors available for English?

Nope. …

Bump .

Well then, it looks pretty dang good. Personally, I’d do gym first (that’s what I’m doing right now) so I can take more, advanced classes later.

If I go to this school, which I hope I don’t, maybe I can take PE during the summer or something. I really want to take band and a foreign language and I can’t if I do PE.

I would take it, but I want at least two trimesters of history, and I have four, but they’re all in the same trimester.

Really, it looks fine.

Thanks .

You only have 5 periods a day?

Take one or more of the required PE or health courses. If you take them later, you’ll have to substitute advanced classes rather than one of the introductory history/social sciences classes freshman year.

Yes, because classes are seventy minutes long because two trimesters have to cover what would be taught in a whole year.

This school only offers five AP classes, two of which I am not even interested in, and two advanced classes. I’m sure I could take PE during the summer, along with other classes, so I’ll have time to take the advanced/AP classes.

its not bad, seems like it will be a good start to high school =]
i can’t believe you don’t have honors at your school
but my school also does 5 periods a day and trimesters

Do you have to go to this particular school? Are there any better local public high schools in your area, or would you be stuck with that one? What about local private schools? Have you looked into those?

They dont offer honors classes?

No, there aren’t any honors classes offer for freshmen. There’s two advanced science classes for juniors and senior, and a couple AP classes.

I applied to a local day school, and this is the high school where all my current classmates are going. There aren’t any better schools in the district. They’re all pretty much the same, except there’s one with about 1,000 kids per grade, and I don’t want to go to that big of a school. I’m sure this school would have more course offerings, but I’m not sure if they have honors. I’ll research it, though.
