HS senior dilemma!

So I’m looking for reaches just because I might get lucky. Carnegie Mellon is definitely a reach for me but I think that their engineering program is worth trying. Heh…

I looked into their entrance REQUIREMENTS and saw that they required an SAT II Math (I or II) and either SAT II physics or chemistry. SHOOT I DON’T HAVE EITHER ONE! I have biology and US history. What a waste…

Due to scheduling conflicts I cannot take the SATs in October. Carnegie Mellon’s regular deadline is January 1 which means I have time to take both SAT IIs. The good thing is that I’m taking AP Calc and AP Chem this year. The bad thing is now I need to make a decision. Should I take the math and chemistry SAT IIs for this reach school? Is it worth it or should I look for other reach schools? (which probably will also ask for math and chemistry SAT)

To cram and hope (vs) to look at lower tier schools

If you are applying to an engineering program that requires subject tests I would highly recommend the Math 2.
Not all ‘reach’ schools dictate which tests you submit. Do some research online. The chances of a decent mark in Chem without having the class for a full year, and without decent self preparation, will rest entirely on your natural ability to pick up information quickly and test well.
