So i am a senior (asian from California) and am going to apply to peabody at Vanderbilt, hoping to major in Human development, and I was wondering how important senior grades are. My grades have an upward trend, and if i do well during my senior year (like better than previous years) will they recognize that? Do they check at the semester, or simply ask you to list your classes? Also, I am considering taking a year off to either do rotary exchange or work with a friends dads relief program in Mexico . So if i were to take a year off would i apply this year, or during my year off! would i have a better chance during the year off cause they’ll see my complete year of senior grades and i would have done something interesting for a year?
Thanks for all the help, it is much appreciated!

apply now, i think. check with vandy though. E-mail them. some schools allow you to take a one year gap after being accepted - meaning you don’t have to enroll for another year. I imagine you would have less of a chance having already been out of HS.
Also, senior grades do matter. most ‘good’ schools want a mid-year grade report on your senior year. basically, your first semester grades. Also, if you get accepted on a 4.0, and after getting accepted your second semester grades drop to 3 C’s, 1 F, 1 D and a B, most schools reserve the right to revoke your acceptance. So don’t get too lazy after that letter.

Probably apply during your year off
