HSHSP 2020

ayyy grats

@michiaude Congrats!

5 down 19(?) more to go, assuming the conservative number of 24 spots…
Might be a bit higher because of covid, who knows? But then with all the cancellations happening, idk.

@boisterouscloud ur assuming that everyone who gets in will log onto cc and say that they got in. tbh, all 24 ppl prob alr got their acceptance

@myredditbruh I do acknowledge that, which is why I tend to use more conservative estimations. I also assumed that everybody who was accepted will go, which I know may not be the case (saw somebody debating on another thread). The total number of acceptances may not even be 24, as 30 were in the program a couple years back, but it is most likely close to 24.

Based on all the previous threads, a second acceptance wave happens near mid-April, so I’m hoping that still happens. I’ll stop tallying when I get a notification, if that ever happens.

Has anyone actually received a rejection @myredditbruh or are you guys just guessing that since you haven’t been accepted, you’ve been rejected? Also, anyone who was accepted @michiaude what is your date to accept them and are you planning to go through with it?

@friarforever
I have until April 15th to accept the offer. As of right now, I am planning to go, but I am still waiting on my SSP decision.

I think that the second wave will come after April 15th so that they can offer the spots of anyone who declined in the first wave to the second wave.

@michiaude congrats !! i have fingers crossed that this program will continue hehe

just curious: has anyone received NEITHER an acceptance nor rejection email? i haven’t and not sure what to make out of this situation or predict the status of my application … :\

@tofuchan me
I haven’t received any notification so far although I am certain that my application has reached MSU

@resurgam same here. i received a confirmation email that my app materials have reached MSU like this on March 10th:

Dear tofuchan,

We wanted to inform you that we have received all of your HSHSP application materials. The committee will begin reviewing application shortly.
If you have any further questions please let us know!

Thanks,

TE Team

other than that no explicit “acceptance” or “rejection” email yet.

i’m not very familiar with how rolling admissions works either so… : |

@tofuchan At least you got a confirmation email lol
My materials was delivered on March 2nd but I never received a confirmation? Idk if I should email them at this point

I’m assuming for now that the first wave of acceptances has gone out and the first wave of rejections will soon come. Then, once the deadline for the first wave to accept has passed, the second wave of acceptances will come, circa mid-April as michiaude said. Anybody who doesn’t get anything is unofficially on a “waitlist” according to prior threads (apparently HSHSP doesn’t send out waitlist notices), and whether they get off depends on whether anyone gives up their spot.

@resurgam same…I don’t even have a confirmation email either and I’m sure my application reached MSU because my envelope had tracking. I’m debating whether I should email them a third time (no response first two times) but I don’t want to be annoying lol.

@boisterouscloud I guess we can just wait for one more week and then email them if we still get nothing

@resurgam aye agreed. Also, Rainberry said that he(?) got a response from them soon after emailing along the lines of confirming that they received his application and that everything had been delayed due to the coronavirus. Hopefully that’s why we haven’t gotten anything.

@boisterouscloud yeah that should be the reason
I’m kinda stressed rn and only want a response. Even a rejection for me is at least something at this point

Yeah I agree we won’t have to worry until April 15th about hearing news and then those who are unofficially in the waitlist will be notified if spots have opened up. I’m assuming by now that the first 24 have received their acceptances already. I don’t think they’d do their original picks in waves right? They would have all went out at once probably?

All I have received was confirmation from MSU that my application materials reached them on February 28.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday afternoon ! I had no prior research experience so I didn’t think I would get in.

@milpdio Congrats on getting in!

Six acceptances have been posted to this thread so far…on one hand I’m hoping I wasn’t rejected but on the other I just want any sort of notice.

When did rejections start coming out in past years?

@Quaratinium I think last year it was around 4/3; the first rejections are usually sent out about a week after the first acceptances start coming out based on what I’ve seen in previous threads. This year’s rejections likely should start coming out in a couple days.

Do the acceptances come through the mail or email? I received a confirmation via email on March 13 but I’m not sure about the acceptance/rejections.
