HSHSP or Yale Ivy Scholars?

Hi, I just learned that I got accepted to HSHSP, and I was ecstatic!

But then I realized I had a (happy) problem… I got accepted to the Yale Ivy Scholars as well…

The Yale Ivy Scholars program is from July 29th to August 14th while the HSHSP program starts on June and ends on August 4th.

Both programs explicitly told me that I can’t miss any days of the program, so I have to choose one.

Which one should I go to?

Any advice is appreciated and thank you so much! :)

Congrats on the acceptances!

First, I have a question of my own: Were you first named as an alternate for HSHSP, then granted acceptance? Or was this your first time hearing from them?

As for picking between the two programs, it depends on what your goal is for the summer. HSHSP is a research program, whereas Yale Ivy Scholars sounds like an opportunity to have the “Yale Experience.”

Thank you!

This was my first time hearing from them, so I am guessing that I was accepted in the beginning since they sent me the acceptance form?

I read/heard that Yale Ivy Scholars program pertaining to leadership skills/paper-writing/debating which you get to actually meet a person who has a big impact on your admission process at Yale… :S + that you get military ranks (?) and receiving an award at the end of the session dramatically increases your chance of getting into Yale?

Also even without HSHSP, I was planning to do a summer science program at my school and go to Yale, but HSHSP sounds MUCH better than doing the summer program at my school (although my school’s program IS free… but money isn’t really an issue here)

Right now I am leaning towards HSHSP… thanks again!
