huge difference in gpa vs sat? (for engineering)

i’m asian and female.
my gpa and sat are very different: 3.42 UW(4.22 weighted, 3.75 UCweighted) vs 2250 (800 in math)
taking math II physics and biology this fall.

i’m going for aerospace engineering and premed (seriously interested in both but i’ll settle for chemical engineering if i have to)

want to be some sort of weapon designer (biological weapons will be fantastic).

my ec’s are not worth mentioning.

i spoke to my counselor regarding this difference a week ago, and according to her, colleges have usually view this in two ways, either i’m very lazy, or the school is freaking competitive. but in this case she thinks they will go for the competitive one because i have a lot of ap classes, but mainly because i’m also taking college classes (full time high school part time college) and my grades at the way less competitive college are good (18 credits as of now, 6 classes, gpa = 4.0)

i want to ask if this difference will harm me too much at these schools.

and also how will penn state park be for me? reach, match, or safety?

thanks soooo much.

u seem to have it right. purdue should be considered a match not a safety. penn state…idk about that. sorry. for the ucs, depending if u live in cali, u could list ucsd as a high match low reach.

^ thanks :). i live in california.

Figure out your UC GPA and you’ll have a good idea how you’ll do at those schools. Unless you go to a highly competitive high school (average SAT near 2100), your counselor is whistling dixie. Rank is king in college admission.

my uc gpa is 3.75. and our school does not calculate average sat, but in general kids tend of have a deflated gpa.

and yes i am in top 10% and nominated for ELC (will know about this once school starts again).
