Huge Dilemna

Chance me, and the dilemna is at the end of the post.

ECs

Quiz Bowl Captain (9-12)
FCA Leader (11-12)

Keeping stats for volleyball team (11-12, and 9-10 another sport)

I have 200+ hours of volunteer work, and I have done a fair amount with my ECs within our school and county community.

I have a part-time job, about 15 hours a week, and I might write an essay on it. It’s unique.

Honors, Awards, Etc.
State-caliber quiz bowl team
AP Scholar with Distinction
National Merit Semifinalist
State science fair as a freshman
Attended MST Governors School in summer
Represents a state-level organization at state government, and national level as well

Here’s the dilemna:
I’m applying to HY, Duke, Cornell, WashU, among others, including safeties and matches. No one from my school has ever been accepted to these schools, and except Cornell, no one has ever applied.

Will my CR score be too low? I am signed up for the ACT next month, but I would bascially need a 34 to match my SAT as it is now.

You have amazing stats, btu i would definitely bring up that SATI score
otherwise i think you have a chance at all schools!
some colleges do…overlook some high school; for example yale doesn’t accept ppl from my school unless for sports (rumor says that one kid a long time back got into Yale ED and paid out of it to go Pton or Harvard) and no one has gotten into yale for a while (13 years?)
it might be harder for ppl from some high schools but like i said before, you have really good stats and you have a good chance to get into school like WashU/Duke. Harvard and Yale are a bit unpredictable but you certainly have a chance

Thanks.

BUMP.

I disagree with peachsnapple. Unless you’ve taken the SAT I only once already, I wouldn’t bother to take it again. Your stats are impeccable and a 680 in one section is not going to kill you, even for ivy league schools. Focusing on writing a standout essay is much more important.

Hey fellow Virginian! I think you would have a really good shot at HY/Duke/Cornell, etc. if you brought your CR score up or got a 34+ in the english section on the ACT.

I’ve taken the SATs three times in high school, but I took it once as a freshman, once as a sophomore, and once as a junior. I’ve improved each time, but that was mostly on the writing and math sections.

Forget SAT then; focus on ACT
