Personally, I feel people are getting a bit bent out of shape over an column, but to each his own.

It’s the advice column type deal, right? I can’t see where the controversy is; did you link to the original by mistake?

That is the original, you can see in the comments. They link to a few articles that commented on it:

Oh, thanks! I usually don’t look at comments on newspaper articles because they… scare me.

Anyway, yeah, I get it now. “Gay people are spooky!” “No they’re not!” “Waah!” “Blaaah!” Shocking!

An opinion article is an opinion article, whatever. I find the fact that the Sun actually published an article that reads like this to be far more offensive, and frankly embarrassing:

The renovation of Stocking Hall has forced a halt to the production of Cornell’s famous ice cream. Once the supply of Cornell Dairy ice cream runs out during the spring semester, the relocated scooping station in Trillium Express will begin serving Premium Perry’s Ice Cream. The renovation of Stocking Hall, which houses the Cornell Dairy Bar and the Cornell Dairy Plant, has forced a halt to the production of Cornell’s famous ice cream until the building’s reopening in early 2013. Once the supply of Cornell Dairy ice cream runs out — which is predicted to happen during the spring semester — the relocated scooping station in Trillium Express will begin serving Premium Perry’s Ice Cream.

“In the past three months, we have been stocking our inventory of ice cream in the freezer as [much] as possible. The inventories should last us about ten to twelve months. We will serve Perry’s Ice Cream when the supplies run out in spring 2011,” said Jason Huck, general manager of Cornell Dairy Operations.

I remember reading that column and thinking that I totally disagreed with that response. now that I’m reading it again, I think the autostaddle analysis right on. I’ve been quite unimpressed by the Sun columns so far this year in general though, so I hardly gave it a second thought at the time.

wow i can’t believe something liek that got so controversial… the editors answer to the sexuality post isn’t great but the responses were pretty dumb too.

and i dont see anything wrong with the ice cream article
