Human bio vs. plant bio

Daughter plans to major in Bio with hopes of entering med school. She is taking internship at hospital this year (her senior hs year).

I have noticed that obviously not all bio departments are created equal! How much does it matter if at your undergrad the school is heavy into pre-med/bio vs. environmental bio (frogs, water, etc!)?

Since it doesn’t really matter where you go to school or what you major in when it comes down to medical school applications, it doesn’t matter what the focus of her chosen school’s biology department is. It’s far more important that whatever she does in college, she does well.

Medical school adcoms don’t use your coursework to judge your interest in medicine - if they did, art history majors and electrical engineering majors wold be out of luck come admission time. Instead, they’re going to look at your daughter’s ECs.
