Human Ecology, Chinese Male (Not pre-med)?

Is it true that it is slightly easier to get into CHE as a Chinese male? I applied to the Human Development major…I tutor other underprivileged kids heavily…I see them being victimized as a huge issue in society, back in China and in the United States as well. Cornell’s CHE is really unique and I think it’s a great fit. Sadly though, I just discovered it like a month ago.

I’ve never heard of that before. If you’re asking about whether or not you’re considered an underrepresented minority (URM), no–traditionally only Hispanics and African Americans are.

Good luck!

There is a lot of female students in CHE compared to males. So I wonder if it’s easier for guus to get in.

@ThePariah‌ if you’re asian, no matter where you’re applying, you’re going to feel some reverse affirmative action. Unfortunately, I don’t think being a male will help your chances that much.

Cornell has released some data on acceptance rate by gender for each college, so you can see how much easier or harder it is. For 2011, the stats for CHE were 129 of 423 for males (30%), and 310 of 949 for females (33%). Based on that I would say that it doesn’t appear to be any easier for males to get into CHE.

Okay thanks
I’m still proud to be Asian.
