Human Ecology

Does one’s choice of major at the human ecology school affect one’s chance of admission to the college? If so, which human ecology major is the hardest/easiest for admittance?

Hi, current Human Ecology student. It sounds cliched, but the easiest major for you to get into at Human Ecology is the one that you’re most suited for. If you’ve done a ton of pre-med stuff in high school and some lab research, you should do something like HBHS or GPHS. If you did a ton of Model UN in high school and have shown a passion for law and politics, go with PAM. If your art portfolio is full of interior designs or drafts of clothing designs, go for DEA or FSAD. If you honestly don’t particularly fit into any one category, I’d argue that you should try for Arts and Sciences instead. It’s very hard to get into Human Ecology without declaring since HumEc places a tremendous amount of importance on individual fit in admissions. I haven’t met anyone that I know of in my time at HumEc who didn’t declare coming in.
