Humanitarian trips?

Are there any possibilities for college funded trips for relief efforts in other countries. I know there is a study abroad program, but I am looking more for humanitarian trips where you might go and help a country in need for a couple weeks. Like trips to Africa or places in need like that. Is there any way to get involved with these sort of activities?

I second this.

Nursing and medical students can go to Botswana. Undergraduates can join Alternative Spring Break and go on community service trips. Penn has had a strong presence in the rebuilding of New Orleans.

But there’s plenty of opportunity for service in West Philadelphia. Law, medical, and dental students go to a local soup kitchen (University City Hospitality Coalition) one night a week. Many students, through the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, work with local schools and community organizations. There are academically-based community service courses that involve students in research at West Philadelphia organizations for academic credit.
