Humanities Scholars Program

I know there aren’t many people admitted to this program, but hopefully someone here will have some info about it…Carnegie Mellon wasn’t my first choice of schools, but now that I’ve gotten into this program, I’m wondering if that should affect how CMU ranks on my list.

I’ve checked out the program website, but I’d like to know about it from the student perspective–how much does it add to the CMU experience, etc…and since the students in this program live in their own cluster, does that eliminate any sort of social scene?

It does not add “much” to the experience (as the experience is already as good as you make it. They offer everything and it is up to you to make the most of it. You can get anything if you come here as it is all offered to you but you have to be the one to take it).

The students in this program are grouped together for dorms and are allowed priority in choosing classes. This actually adds the MOST to the social scene. HSS and SHS people are the most known for the social life and New House 5 is consistently the most social dorm. Example: This year we have had dorm alcohol parties (with only warnings as our R/A doesn’t care much) and half the floor are in frats.

Alright, cool…I haven’t visited, so I wasn’t sure whether cluster meant completely separate or not.

Thanks.
