Hunter Psychology Undergraduate Program

Hi,

So, currently I’m an Undecided freshman at SUNY Stony Brook. After doing much research, I believe I would like to pursue a job in Industrial Psychology. (The job makes good money and I found AP Psychology in high school interesting.) However, this isn’t set in stone, as I’m still doing research.

The problem is, since I was much younger, I always enjoyed creative writing. Even now, I do. I would love to develop my skill set by double majoring. One major (presumably psychology) would mostly focused on financial support, the other on something I really enjoy. However, SBU doesn’t offer Creative Writing as a major. The closest thing to this is a Minor in Writing or Major in Journalism (ugh :frowning: ) which doesn’t seem ideal…

So, I’ve started looking into Hunter. (On a side not, attending Hunter would make my commute much easier, which is a huge plus. I live on Long Island, but I’m currenly dorming at Stony Brook. There are no direct train routes to my home…)
Stony Brook apparently has an excellent psychology program.
Do you think it would be a poor decision to transfer to Hunter? How do their programs, at the undergraduate level, compare?
