We’re going to be on the Cape this summer and then heading back into Boston. I live on the other coast, but I figure some people here must be familiar with the local transportation.
The car dropoff location is the airport, and there are Plymouth & Brockton buses from the Hyannis Transportation Center into Boston South Station hourly. The problem I have is that from Google maps it is about a mile to the Transit center at 215 Iyannough Road. This is a bit far with luggage, although maybe it’s our only option. Won’t be fun if it is raining!
Has anyone gone from the airport to the transit center and can offer suggestions on how to do so? I wouldn’t mind taking a taxi but I don’t know if they’d want such a short fare. There doesn’t seem to be a shuttle listed on the airport website.
I don’t know if there is a shuttle , but don’t walk ! It isn’t pedestrian friendly and even if it was, it’s sketchy area. If you’re going to take a cab , I would suggest taking it to the Barnstable Rt 132 stop. It is slightly farther , but safer area.
I grew up in Hyannis and take the bus from Barnstable to Logan when I fly there all the time.
There are generally cabs at the Hyannis airport when flights arrive. It is a short trip, but the cabs go between the airport to the bus or the ferry terminals all the time, especially in the summer. I know the fare from the airport lot to the ferry terminal, which is right near the bus station (transportation center) is about $10-12.
If there aren’t cabs when you arrive, you could try Uber too. I havent had much luck with Uber–not that many drivers in Hyannis. Commute from Boston area to one of the Cape islands most weekends in the summer/fall and have to go to Hyannis to get there.
