HYP and Georgetown Admissions!

<p>I already asked this exact question, but i got unsatisfactory results, I would greatly appreciate CONCRETE ideas about what i should do! ALSO if you could preemptively chance me (i know its hard without SAT/ACT scores) That would be fantastic! Just for reference, assume my SAT: <2250
Im pretty sure my teacher recs will be good ( I have pretty awesome teachers and I’m close with them all)
So, here goes:
Im a highschool freshman at an extremely competitive school in Washington DC. I was wondering what i could do to impress the colleges listed above? Im not particularly sports oriented, and i play no musical instruments. I am, however, a very good student, I have a GPA of 3.85 (my school again is incredibly hard, and there are absolutely NO AP, IB, or Honors Classes, although there are advanced tracks). Right now I’m in model UN, Debate, Honor Committee (elected position, deals with Administrative hearings), Community Action Club (Service Club), I play cello (just restarted, 4 years of previous experience though), I tutor underprivileged kids every tuesday for 3 hours, and I go to a community center to volunteer at the daycare there for 2 hours every friday. Also, my friend and i started an organization to raise money for starvation relief in the Horn of Africa through donations and school events (dances, fairs, etc), we are making enormous progress and we have already got local sponsors and are spreading to other schools. There’s no NHS at my school but I am on Honor Roll. I am on the advanced Math Track. This is my schedule:

*IN JUNIOR YEAR I WANT TO DO SYA FRANCE! So therefore this schedule might not be applicable.

<p>Will this schedule (with a consistent GPA of 3.85, again there are no AP courses) impress these colleges along with my extracurriculars? I really desperately want to go to princeton and Georgetown because i want to be in the FOREIGN SERVICE (thats why the languages might count a little more) and they have GREAT schools of Foreign Service. My sister, uncle, and cousin went/go to Yale. My school sends the highest percentage of their graduates to Ivies in the country. I will do anything to impress these colleges. Also, assume I take Le Grand Cours (National French Exam) and receive a gold medal, and also I receive the Gold Presidential Service Award (which i will if i continue doing the service i plan to do). Help me, what can i do to show these colleges i am SERIOUS about getting in and about my prospective major, foreign service, which i am EXTREMELY PASSIONATE about!

<p>Do things you enjoy, not things you’re doing just to impress admissions. It’s way too early to burn yourself out playing the game.</p>

<p>I know that i shouldn’t just do things to impress colleges, and none of my activities (with the exception of the cello) is to impress colleges. But it would really make me relax if you could just tell me. My sister (now at Yale) started planning for college and studying for the SATs in 9th grade too! She said if you don’t start early, you’ll regret it! Please!?</p>

<p>Find something that really interests you. Something that you want to do, that will require a time commitment. Stick with that activity. Grow with it. If it’s something you love, it won’t be for College, it will be because you love it.</p>

<p>As time goes on, you hopefully will grow as a person, receive recognition, etc.</p>

<p>Then when you apply for college, they will see that you have a passion, will stick with something. This will help.</p>

<p>The reason your school sends among the highest percentage to the ivies is that it is full of legacies at these schools. That’s the reason all top prep schools send so many. It’s also because there are tons of recruited athletes and top URMs. And don’t forget in DC children of the powerful and well connected.</p>

<p>So in actuality, for kids without one of these hooks, a top prep school can make Getting into a top college harder. You will first be compared to your highly accomplished classmates and you will need to find ways to stand out. I would focus on ECs that go beyond your school.</p>
