HYP, WashU, MIT

<p>hey everyone. just curious about my chances of getting into HYP, WashU, and MIT. I want to major in BME
anyways, here are my stats thus far:</p>

<p>competitive high school (high competitive school acceptance rate)
4.0 overall GPA up until now (junior) unweighted
High Honor Roll 3 years</p>

<p>SAT: 2320 R:790, W:750, M:800
SATII Math IIC: 780
SATII Bio E: 730 (how bad is it to retake satiis?)
SATII Chem: anticipated 800
AP Chem: 5
AP Calc BC: 4
AP Bio: 5</p>

<p>all honors courses
independent biology research
Math Team (ARML, AMC, AIME, HMMT etc.)
JV Debate Team

PSAT semi-finalist (hopefully. got a 224)

Statewide BME fellowship w/ stipend
Habitat for Humanity secretary</p>

Potomac Homes - aid Alzheimer’s patients
Camp Counselor - little children 80 hrs a summer for 2 summers thus far (will cont.)</p>

<p>anticipating a really good essay and excellent recs from research teacher and calc teacher (former professors). also hoping to get some work experience this summer and an internship during the school year next year.</p>

HYP - reach 15%
MIT - reach 20%
WashU - high match 40%</p>

<p>misschatterbox, HYP and MIT will always be a crapshoot, no matter how strong a candidate you are. If you apply Early Decision to WashU, you’d almost definitely get in, but for regular I’d agree with the previous poster on the 40% chance.</p>

<p>If you’re looking to major in BioMed Engineering you should give Duke a serious look. Your chances of admission are pretty good, Duke has an amazing BME program (2nd in nation-US News), and Durham is the BioMed capital of America.</p>

<p>Definitely consider Duke over WashU!
However, I would say that your chances at HYP & MIT are actually relatively good. Too bad you can’t apply to Princeton early anymore…</p>
