Hypocrisie with admission office? Some adivice please?

My current school proposed me to become a student ambassador. I am going to transfer to another college, I told my dean and my advisor about it. Now I think that it could show my future school that I didn’t hate my current school If they choose me to do this job and at the same time I am wondering if the prospective college will think that I am an hypocrite since I am encouraging students to come to a place that I want to leave. I also feel bad about it because I am so unhappy here that I don’t someone else to feel like me. At the same time I understand that what’s might not seem good to might be good for someone else. It could also be an opportunity to increase my pocket money because right now I am working for less than 7 hours.

Not all the people will feel the same as you about your current college.

Just do your job and keep your personal sentiment away from it.

ok m.Kenien

I guess it really depends on your reasons for transferring.

If its something along the lines of your school doesn’t have your major/has a weak department for your major/you want to go somewhere new geographically, then I see no problem being an ambassador.

If you want to transfer out because you think the school as a whole is academically weak/the professers suck/the social life is bad, then I think it comes off a bit hypocritically to be an ambassador.

I don’t think it necessarily makes you seem hypocritical. I think it is a valuable personality trait to be able to see/respect the positive attributes of your current school even if it is not the particularly right place for you in the long term. You could even include something along those lines in an essay.

Thanks guys for your help. I actually declined the offer because I told them that I am not sure about how they would feel to have a future transfer student as one of the college’s representative but they still told me o join the team. So I am done with my worries and as someone above said, isn’t because I don’t want to stay there that other people should feel like that.
