Hypothetical Book Question

Suppose that someone searches for and finds an online version of a book that is required for a course they will be taking. Ethics aside and if downloaded while they are at home as opposed to using UF’s network, would they be able to get through the class with it? Are students required to bring their books to class? Would teachers look unkindly on this and report it?

I can only speak from engineering experience, but I can say unequivocally there that professors don’t require you to bring your books to class and don’t care if you have the books anyway. I have many friends who bummed books from various sources to keep from spending money.

That’s fine. In a lot of classes you can even get by without the book. I make it a point never to buy a book before I’m sure I’ll need it. I’m not spending $150 for nothing.

I’m sick of these greedy and crooked professors who have deals with these publishers ensuring maximum financial windfall for all involved, except, of course, for US.
