I-20 question

<p>A quick question:</p>

<p>Does requesting an I-20 from Stanford means that you are committing to enroll there? In another word, will you be forced to pay tuition anyway if you asked for the I-20 then decided to enroll somewhere else? Any help is much appreciated.</p>

<p>No, I’m pretty sure you won’t be forced to pay tuition immediately. But, why exactly are you concerned about this?</p>

<p>A friend of mine is in some complicated financial situation… He wants to go to Stanford but his sponsor prefers he enroll somewhere else. Bottom line is, he wants to request an I-20 so he can get started with the visa application process (can’t do that until he has the I-20) while he negotiates with his sponsor.</p>
