Please tell me what you think. I plan on dual majoring in economics and philosophy. Many thanks.

I say you have a good chance for honors. This is my first summer on campus and it really is great. I love this school

I think you will definitely be good to go. Just make sure you apply EA and maybe try and meet someone in the department. This will help you get the best scholarship that you qualify for.

thanks for the replies! yes i plan on doing early action. Are there any current students in econ or philosophy that can add additional color regarding these programs? How have your experiences been? teachers and coop opportunities in these major? Thanks a million!

I actually started off as an Econ major before changing to Poli Sci/Middle East Studies. I will go into why I love the major first. They can apply for probably the widest array of co ops at of any program at Northeastern. They are able to do legal, non-profit, policy, research…and most significant Business co ops. I know a lot of people take advantage of doing the business co ops that pay very well before or after doing a research/non profit co op that only pays 12-15 an hour. The other great thing i loved about the major, from a research/policy standpoint was there is one of the foremost labor market statistics labs. [Center for Labor Market Studies](http://www.clms.neu.edu/) you can google news and find many publications cited in NYT, WSJ, Financial Times. If you can get into this research group, you will be amazed at where the networking can take you. On to the bad, I know they have done a lot of new hiring in the Econ department, but when i was there, I had a couple professors who spoke English as a second language and it was very difficult to understand them. i dont know enough to know if this is a general field issue when it comes to economics.

Thanks for your response much appreciated!

Just so you know, there isn’t a dual in economics and philosophy. You can try and double major in econ and philosophy, but it seems like philosophy has a lot of required classes so it might be a little difficult to arrange your classes.

Thank you, yes I am looking to double major.
