I actually need a GRE word. Help!

Hi folks

Never thought this would happen. I need to use a GRE word (you know, one of those words you learn and never see again). Please complete the following analogy:

birds : ornithology :: butterflies : ???

I need to use the word for a butterfly enthusiast in an essay I am writing. For real.

I’m sure I could find the word after a few google clicks, but I thought I’d give everyone here an opportunity to at least use the word they memorized in a situation OUTSIDE of the GRE…

Thanks in advance.

lepidopterology

randomname01,
impressive

google search: study of butterflies

third entry

wow. i know i did NOT come across this word studying for the GRE.

thnx much.

armstrong101 800 on verbal is not compulsory
unless your’re trying to work for ETS after your gradschool…

If you were a Venture Brothers fan, you would’ve known that there was an episode called “The Lepidopterists”, because the experts from the OSI claimed to be “butterfly specialists”, with respect to dealing with the Monarch’s unchecked aggression.

To summarize, you’re better off watching cartoons than wasting your time studying for the GRE.

You kids won’t remember it, but the “old” MCAT had a popular culture section. It was designed to weed out the dweebs, people who had no life beyond their coursework.

and I thought knowing ichthyology & entomology was good enough…=/
