I already graduated from college, but would the schools I applied to still accept me?

<p>I graduated from college last May and I am doing this for kicks. </p>

<p>My question is, will I still get in all the schools I applied to in 2001 when I was a high school senior if I am a high school junior right now (High School Class of 2008)? You decide! </p>

<p>Academics (at the end of my first semester senior year in high school):
GPA - Unweighted: 3.3
GPA - Weighted: 3.4
Class Schedule: I took as many honors and AP classes I could with the exception of science ones?.my schedule was harder than everyone?s except for maybe two or three people, and though I wasn?t perfect, I guess I did okay.
Class Rank: top 20%
Class Size: 279 were in my senior class</p>

Significant Extracurriculars: I was in band, all state band guy for two years, and yes I was a leader more or less. I marched for a couple of years (freshman and sophomore). I was also a member of my HS’s government club and Model UN and got “elected” into the model VA General Assembly.<br>
Volunteer/Service Work: I worked for the Commonwealth Attorney?s Victim Witness Program?s office for two years.<br>
Honors: I wasn’t good enough for NHS, only .001 away in GPA at the beginning of Senior Year… I made Spanish NHS however.</p>

  1. I got tuition waivers to apply to Mason, Richmond, Washington & Lee, Baylor, and WashU.<br>
  2. I would consider myself a legacy at three schools: Baylor, Duke, and Wake. With Baylor, one of my cousins went to med school at Baylor and dishes a lot of dough down to Texas. At Duke, my dad, and a cousin went there and they love giving money for Blue Devil sports. Wake Forest is my mom’s college. It’s kind of interesting that I’m an Asian American with parents that love good Southern schools, and Asians tend to shy away from going South (unless it’s Duke, Emory, or UVA). Most Asians my age have parents who were never educated in the US, at least those I know.

<p>I went to Richmond freshman year…I did get some tuition breaks by going there and I liked the campus a lot; I still had to pay a lot more than I would have at UVA and W&M, my first choices at the time, maybe Wake if I got some grant or the like. I didn’t pick the other schools I was accepted to because they accepted me, but no grants or aid whatsoever.</p>

<p>I really appreciate your post as it has some great information that is very helpful in our case. D filled out her schedule last month for next year but we will meet with her counselor sometime in July to make any changes. I want to make sure she is taking as many AP classes as possible without too much stress. I know that at her school the trend is to try and ‘coast’ your senior year but she isn’t planning on doing that and I know she wants to take AP English, AP History, French II and Precal…not sure of the rest. She’ll graduate with two years of Spanish and two years of French which may also help. D had to work very hard in honors chemistry this year after we found out that only fools take honors chemistry or those are at the top of their class…she managed to pull out a “C+” and would have done better but disorganized teacher lost one of her homework assignments and gave her a zero in place of it. Her rank is somewhere around 130 out of 460 juniors. As far as cheerleading goes…she has six years of school experience, three years of all-star, and two years of gymnastics which translates to cheerleading tumbling. Has almost all the elements of tumbling colleges look for but most colleges don’t award much of a scholarship for cheerleading since it’s still up for debate as to whether it is really a sport. Yeah right…broke her finger three times…kicked in the head and knocked out twice…kicked in the throat three times…and bruises on arms and legs after most practices and competitions and this is just THIS year but she loves it!!! :)</p>

<p>haaaa…you got that right Newbyreborn! D had a major competition last week at UNCC and one of the bases had a flyer fall on her landing most of her weight on the bases already injured leg. Base is now scheduled for surgery to repair her ACL. She literally crawled off the competition floor. Is Ping-Pong and Badminton really considered a school sport? Anyway, I think that because of the ‘invention’ of all-star cheerleading, school cheerleading is gaining a little more respect because many schools are making the tryout requirements much stricter. Most of them now require a standing backhandspring, roundoff backhandspring, standing backtuck, and a layout is icing on the cake. These are also the skills needed for college cheerleading.</p>

<p>my high school’s cheerleading team won the state championship three years in a row, and they were good as long as I was there… cheer is a legit sport after seeing what they do.</p>
