I am a Junior and I want to transfer. Here are my reasons why: First of all, loneliness and depression. I had made friends here at my college, but many of them transferred to schools in their hometowns. I attend a college away from home and I am also very homesick. Second, I have debt anxiety. This makes me want to quit college and start a job. Third, lack of diversity in my college. I fill like red blob among hundreds of blue blobs, it makes me feel odd and outcasted. Reasons why I haven’t transfer: No college that provides my major near home, I am a junior and almost graduating soon, and the fear of losing school scholarships. I just want a friend and to enjoy college. Feeling alone and outcasted isn’t what I was hoping for in my college experience. I have joined clubs and done stuff outside of school, but the lack of diversity is overwhelming. I am actually a junior next year. Don’t know what to do anymore…
Can you afford to transfer? Financial aid is a problem for transfers. Maybe you need a break from school?
why is financial aid a problem for transfers?
Need based aid will depend on the college and your Merit Aid package might not be as generous at your new school. There really is not way to speculate. Decent data exisits on fin aid for freshman but it is not as plentiful for Transfer students. You will just have to apply to the school you are considering and see what the FIN AID package is. Hopefully you can swing it. Also, understand that not all credits may transfer. It might require a fifth year and that will cost also.
Good luck
Is red vs blue a reference to political affiliation?
I think you should talk to someone at your school - an academic adviser or a school counselor.
