wis75…emailing sounds like a good idea…but my DD sometimes responds to emails with “don’t tell me what to do.” I have to be REALLY CAREFUL to watch what I say lest it be taken by my DD as advice.

I guess my MOST DIFFICULT challenge as a parent now is to hold my tongue when I see something that I feel can be done in advance, or be looked at differently. My DD wants to “do it on her own.” Period. (unless she asks for my opinion)

The worry that I have in the back of my brain is that, when you are young, you yourself may not know what to ask or consider. Ahhhh, I find this THE MOST difficult part of parenting so far!

Kids don’t always know what they don’t know…so I feel your pain, @questbest! I guess we stand back when asked to, and then let natural consequences take their toll. And of course, bite our tongues when we so want to say “told you so”.

A few years ago I ran into the store to buy snacks for superbowl or something. I could easily pick out what everyone else liked and I couldn’t even think about what I would like for myself. I am another one who put everything into being a mom. I realize I’ll be in for a shock come August. I’m trying to develop my own hobbies and interests now. I’m not a helicopter I’m more like a plow who wants to pave the way for them.

Did you ever see the movie 50/50? Greatest line ever from the mom when she meets her sons psychologist for the first time. I smother because I love.

We are currently visiting s#2 in the city he has lived in for 6 years. I have never lived here. But I somehow found myself giving DH driving directions. I guess some things never change :(
