I am a Pedant

Hey guys

today, I finally discovered Philip Glass, so I listened to several parts of Einstein on the Beach, and it was so beautiful I wept :.)

I’ve also reached the part in Orlando Furioso where Orlando finally goes insane.

Long time no see my friend :]

likewise

see how I use fancy sounding words :b

I’m not the one who’s read Immanuel Kant though

I need someone to disseminate Neitzsche to me, because I don’t think I’ll have the patience to read “Thus Spake Zarathrustra” for fun

^haha. What a coincidence. I’m actually reading that right now :P

Don’t hate. Kant was for a Euro assignment…

@Mapleleafs26:

Lol, you need to talk to my friends, we sort of have a joke going on about Neitzsche. It all started back in AP Euro…:D

@fairy_dreams: Haha, sounds like some debate research last year. We discuss philisophies a lot at my school, and I really don’t know why

that’s living on the extreme edge. I think I might have to read part of “The Waste Land”, which will be cool because I <3 modernist poetry!!!

EDIT: yeah Nietzsche seems so confusing to me. I would have had a mental breakdown too if I knew I would be so hard for people to understand later on haha
Here’s what I’ve got from AP Euro studying

 • Religion is bad for making people conform
 • Being the superman is good
 • You can be the übermensch if you do stuff that does not include religion

Hahaha that’s so true! And that is basically what we learned last year too. Don’t forget that people did stuff for the glory of God!

I’ll have to keep that in mind haha
Pascal √
Neitzsche √
Immanuel Kant - I couldn’t even tell you a single thing he thought

I don’t remember too much about him either, just when I looked up guys to namedrop in debates, then my friends and I would discuss (for fun, yeah we’re cool :D) what each person thought and whatever. It’s time-consuming, but fun lol

I’m a big fan of referencing people who are way smarter than me in debates:

“Well Aristotle said that a ball weighing 1 lb would fall twice as fast as a ball weighing a half a pound, so there. Argue against THAT evidence!”

Hahaha, name-dropping like is awesome because the opponet can NEVER counter. Same thing goes for writing essays like on the SAT

mos def. that was my whole plan going into it, and I did surprisingly well on the writing as a result

e.g. - “Confucius preached that people should exercise filial piety toward their elders. His philosophy helped bring order to a China split apart by internal strife. Therefore, you should listen to your elders”

Really? Did you get a 12 on it? I went crazy with name-dropping on the December SAT, and it was actually a great essay (12). Instead of having that many examples this time, today I limited myself to only 4 examples and went into more depth describing them. Did you take the SAT too today?

Ugh, Philip Glass. No, real pedants listen to music like Stockhausen and Boulez. Their music is beautiful too, but for some reason people feel an urgent need to analyze it that they don’t feel when listening to Glass.

By the way, I prefer String Quartet no. 5 to Einstein on the Beach.

lol not today. I took it last May, and I think I got an 11, but I got a 780 overall, so I was content with my doings of that day.

I think they made the SAT essay just for that purpose, and I should thank them for it.

^awesome! I will be checking them out tomorrow
