<p>I know Berkeley had one of, if not the best, physical education/coaching programs prior to 1997.</p>
<p>When I check the “search college” function on here, Berkeley pops up as still having it and same goes for some other websites. (albeit possibly less credible than here) Yet when I go to the Berkeley website I see nothing about it.</p>
<p>So was it actually destroyed back in 1997 or is it still around, just under a different name?</p>
<p>Physical Education academics are now found mainly under Integrative Biology (see courses numbered 123-129, 222, 223 [in</a> the catalog](<a href=“http://sis.berkeley.edu/catalog/gcc_list_crse_req?p_dept_name=Integrative+Biology&p_dept_cd=INTEGBI]in”>http://sis.berkeley.edu/catalog/gcc_list_crse_req?p_dept_name=Integrative+Biology&p_dept_cd=INTEGBI)).</p>
<p>There was a biology reorganization some years ago that merged a large number of departments (Biochemistry, Botany, Genetics, Paleontology, Physical Education, Zoology, etc.) into Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) and Integrative Biology (IB). Now, most* biology students major in MCB or IB and choose their emphasis within the major.</p>
<p>*There are some biology majors in other divisions besides L&S, such as Chemical Biology in the College of Chemistry and some other majors in the College of Natural Resources.</p>
<p>Thanks so much ucbalumnus. I have looking for sports med for a while and couldn’t find one. But it doesn’t look like its offered too often (its spring only and not this spring).</p>

<p>Not sure what you mean by “killed off”, but it appears (from [Home</a> Page - Online Schedule Of Classes](<a href=“http://schedule.berkeley.edu%5DHome”>http://schedule.berkeley.edu) ) that most of the PE academic courses (IB 123-127, 223) are offered yearly (interestingly, apparently all in the fall semester), though a few (129, 222) seem to be absent this academic year.</p>
<p>However, according to <a href=“https://biology.berkeley.edu/internal/ib_undergrad/declaration/step4_aid.php[/url]”>https://biology.berkeley.edu/internal/ib_undergrad/declaration/step4_aid.php</a> , it looks like IB 128 (sports medicine), and C129L will be offered in summer 2012 and 2013, but not in the regular academic year (fall and spring).</p>
