<p>NYU is what i like to think of as a 2nd tier ivy, not quite hyp level, but around the level of other top private universities like duke and cornegie mellon. The average SAT score is around 1400 and it has one of the best academic programs anywhere</p>
<p>What about the lifestyle? NYU’s athletic standing is completely different, and I think the Greek life is as well. I assume the campus gods are not basketball players and frat house big shots.</p>

<p>You would be very surprised. There are some big fraternities on campus and they pretty much run the place. Athletics have a small following but definitely not big. NYU is a party school however even though it does not have that reputation.</p>
