I am new to the board and I am in need of some SAT help

Okay, so I took the SAT in March and due to me being sick and having a migraine, I had egregious results. I made a 1470 on the SAT.

Now as of late on the Practice tests I make 1800s to 1840s. My reading score is 610, math is anywhere from 540 to 570 and writing in 650 to 660.

I have the following SAT prep books

Princeton Review cracking the SAT 2009 version
Princeton Review 11 Practice tests for the SAT
SAT Math 800
Kaplan SAT Math workbook
and Collegeboard Official SAT Study guide.

I have done well on the collegeboard practice tests but the ones in Princeton Review almost always screw me up. So here are my questions

How much have you seen an SAT score go up the second time around someone has taken it?

Is it possible for me to get in the 1900s range or high 1800s range as soon as October 10 comes around?

and I hope you guys can help me, a friend of mines has told me a lot of good things about the people on this site.

"I have done well on the collegeboard practice tests but the ones in Princeton Review almost always screw me up."

Luckily, the Princeton Review doesn't write the actual test.

"1. How much have you seen an SAT score go up the second time around someone has taken it?"

Scores can increase by huge amounts with sufficient preparation.

Try referencing the stickies at the top of the forum for help. There are links to the recommended ways to use the official practice tests as well as section-specific strategies.

thank you, also, I have basically done 2 hours daily during the summer and you know this SAT means a lot to me so I have to go in and do great, do they have any guides which deal with alleviating stress?

Look under Top Forums, then under SAT/ACT. Lots of discussion of your questions. I especially recommend the Xiggy's prep method for the SAT (that's the very first post under SAT tesp prep).
Good Luck

You can improve your SAT scores a lot simply by taking lots and lots of practice tests. I got from around 2000 to the 2200's by just studying vocab and taking practice tests. It's not hard to brush up your math and writing section if you just learn the material and practice, and the difficult part of verbal is mostly vocab. Hope I helped at least a little!

you guys helped a lot, thanks

Okay guys, so I have been having issues with the SAT Math section. When I took the test in March I made a 460 but that is because I was really sick when I took the test so that score was kind of skewed. Now on a timed practice test I made a 520 on the Math section (the test was given in school and was kind of treated in SAT like conditions, I was not sick when I took the test about 4 months ago).

Now I have come a long way but I keep getting in the 540s and 570s range. I take the SAT on October 10th so I need some tips on how to get my SAT math score up in the 600s and above range. So far I have found out that my weakest point on the SAT Math is the geometry.

I also do poor on those difficult algebra problems and those coordinate problems towards the end of the section.

How do I go about studying and raising my score to the 600s range?
Would it be a wise choice to just read over the material in the official SAT Study guide from collegeboard?

Do I have enough time? How much hours a day do you recommend studying?

Thanks for all help, as you guys can see my reading scores and writing scores are in the high 600s range so a 600 or above on the SAT Math will truly help me.
