i am seriously depressed...

i received my sat II scores today, 780 in chem and 780 in mathII, but my parents are angry/ dissapointed in me. they say that “my future is destroyed” that I am lazy, do not take oppurtunities, do not try, and do not care about college. they say that i have blown my chance at any good school and that i would be lucky to get into george mason.

i think my scores are ok, but my parents have basically told me that I WILL NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH.

Your scores are far beyond OK.

ummmm right. 780 is an excellent score in both. There are plenty of people that get into ivies or top LACs getting less than a 780 on their SAT subject tests.

i wish i could… but both my mom and dad will not take less than perfect.

just wait until you get into a good college. and you will with 780s.

then you can do whatever you want every day.

thanks everyone…
i hate this feeling of guilt/anger/pressure…

Not to offend you, but your parents have their heads so far up their ***es it’s ridiculous. Those scores are more than competitive at any school in the world.

asian parents? lolol

yeeeeep ocd asian parents

Did you study for them? Did you buy review books? If you went in there and took it blind, your parents are justifiably angry–you are wasting opportunities. If you did study, however, and this is your best, tell them to shove it.

hehehe my parents are the same…I got a 790 on the june chem SAT II, and the first thing my parents said when I told them what I got was “Where did the other ten points go?”

my parents hate my SAT scores hahahhahahahhaha but oh well, im sorry i just hate standardized testing and its funny because i did SO much better on APs because they are actually studiable tests, unlike SAT.

but yes, tell your parents that its only 20 points. people get WAY worse than that. seriously look at me, i got 670 on my satII and if that doesnt work, then point them to CC and other sources to tell them that 780 is PERFECT.

What’s wrong with that? Knowledge is acquired through learning from mistakes.

the point is that my parents never told me that I did a good job…the only thing they were concerned with was the fact that I didn’t get a perfect score

haha i think i might actually point them to this site… but then theyll probably get even more angry and think that im being defiant and making excuses for my scores

the thing is, i studied really hard but they just never see me because im always in my room and i always act happy so they think that im not pressured and that i dont care

What’s wrong with high standards? They just want you to go to a good college.

lol, I understand that but I think I deserve at least a “good job” for a 790 on chem.

^So your happiness depends on your parents’ approval? I’d rather be attending a good college.

im glad for high standards but its really hard, for me at least, to be happy when my parents are blatantly hating my guts and devaluing me… its a very unhappy environment

^ I agree//
