I am shocked and distressed

The highschool I attended had been running an illegal scam called an integrated program and caused me huge amounts of trouble causing me to drop from near perfect scores to very average scores and even to the brink of failure since there was no stability in the program and teachers were changed as often as a few weeks and no attention was paid towards the actual curriculum (CBSE) which in itself is a kind of sham. Result: I scored just 81.2%. I fear this might jeopardize my chances of getting a scholarship. Will getting a great score in an alternative highschool diploma probably Cambridge A levels make up for it with a proper explanation of the circumstances??? Please help me.

It looks like you are an international applicant.

How much money can your family afford to pay for your education in the US?

100 Grand at the most for the whole of my UG and then we will be broke.

It will be almost impossible for you to study in the US for only 25k each year for four years. Depending on how your school records are evaluated, and on your ACT or SAT scores there may be some aid available. However, the GPA and exam scores needed for significant merit-based aid (see this list: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/2006094-2017-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-p1.html ) are essentially the same as those required for admission to admission to the places that offer need-based aid. Your best option may be to study in your own country.

For $100k (or the Euro/Pound equivalent), you could get a degree from one of the top UK schools, though. Mainly because you receive a bachelor’s degree in 3 instead of 4 years.

Think about UK schools if you want a degree from a school outside your country.

Cambridge preU or A levels are good. What subject are you thinking of?
It’s the norm for class XI CBSE students to drop.
I’m so sorry you had to go through one of the half baked schemes devised by some schools in India (assuming India) but nothing is list.

I am thinking of Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Economics for A level and environmental management AS pretty sure I will get straight A*s
since the curriculum is taylor made for my style of learning (not memorization)

*nothing is lost (not list)

Good picks, they keep a lot of options open.
I’d say to go for it.

So do you think I still have a shot? Should I conceal my CBSE grades? Or… will the universities understand my problem??

@MYOS1634 saw your comment on the other thread thanks for you insight.

DO NOT conceal your CBSE results as this would be grounds for rescission.
Show

  1. Class X (Xi?) CBSE results
    then
  2. A levels (=classXII+XIII)

Okay… I hope that the A levels can make up for CBSE.
They are better after all in terms of learning.

Yes, schools have access to a clearinghouse and can easily see where students have studied. Schools can and do dismiss students for failing to report attendance at a school. And honesty works best in the end.

$100k total for four years in the US is going to be very difficult to find, and probably impossible. I think that you have to look elsewhere.

And I agree with other comments that you cannot hide anything from your transcript.

Here’s a case where an elite school rescinded admission and removed the student from campus,

https://www.teenvogue.com/story/university-of-rochester-student-told-to-leave-lying-admissions

Basically submit class X or XI (CBSE) then AS level results then A2 predicted results.

Thanks you guys really saved my butt.
I guess I will just clarify the problem in the additional info section. I’m probably going to sue the school.
The judiciary is probably the only well oiled machine this country has.

Sue if you want but don’t bring it up in your application.

Yes I won’t put it on my app. My wes eval is straight 4s though. And ap scores will be straight 5s. So I can supplement my original transcripts showing that CBSE just wasn’t a good fit. A levels will also prove that.

Finally… the board itself penalized hundreds of evaluators for erroneous grading. Thanks guys for bearing with me and all the help you provided. Now I have proof that the system is broken.
