Lately it just won’t stream, or stops every 10 seconds. We are finally so sick of it, I think we are going to cancel, even if it’s just $8 a month. The irritation is not worth it. Anybody else have this troubl?
I suspect you have an internet problem, not a netflix problem, test your speed, check you are getting what you
pay for. Is what you pay for, adequate for your useage? As I assume you should have a teenager in your house, apply their tech knowledge to the problem.
I was going to say it could be a wifi issue.
I don’t know how to check that, I know, pathetic, teenagers all gone!
I will look up tomorrow how to check the speed.
google ‘internet speed test’
Choose the one by OOKLA
Choose “Begin test”, not… “Start Scan”
I have a wired connection to the devices that don’t move, and a robust wifi.
Our ISP gives us 125MB/S download.
Previously, we had 4 MB download, wifi, and a lot of time wasted by buffering.
Try rebooting your wireless router. Turn it off, count to 10 and turn it back on. That will sometimes solve the wireless speed issues.
The likelihood is that your wifi router is out of date/slow.
How old is your wireless router?
How old is your modem?
If either is older than 2 years old its time to get new ones- especially a newer dual speed wireless router that handles b/g /n networks and that automatically uses 5G channels, instead of the more crowded 2G channels.
other reliable speed tests are offered by dslreports
Recent article in the NY Times about resolving wifi problems by getting a new router:

Thank you everyone…it must be my wireless router. I did the Ookla test and it says 30 ping, 124 Mbsp download and 24 upload. I looked at our wireless router, it’s a net gear N somrthing. It is 2-3 years old. the green lights are on 4 places…including where it says 2.4 MHz, but a blue light on the MHz.
It is next to our PC in the office, which is about 15 ft. Away from the TV, but it has to go through 2 walls…it’s down the open hallway.

Take your time and google words you don’t know. Make it a game for yourself to understand the terms. It is a struggle for everyone.

Great router article. Easy to understand.
we had a similar issue. replaced the router.
I agree, the route may be at fault. I would look for a dual channel router, that use 2G and 5g bands to get the best speed (my apple Airport Extreme has that, I love it, though it is not cheap).
We have a wired connection to the Apple TV. That’s even better than good WiFi. With WiFi, we were having to log in to Netflix each time (maybe that problem has gone away since). We still sometimes have to ask the kids to reduce the number of things they streaming at the same time we are watching a movie.
Thank You all so much! The router was the problem. We had a Netgear N900, and upgraded. Apparently, Netflix has upgraded something for the 4 K TV high def, and don’t adk me why, but the older routers now aren’t strong enough. Problem is solved, Netflix runs very quickly now. Not too excited to purchas a $180 router to watch Netflix crappy movies…haha…but oh well!! It’s nice to have for the TV shows.
We were having trouble with streaming too (not Netflix in particular) we replaced the router and it’s better, but it’s always worse on the weekends, which makes me think it’s a Verizon issue as well.
