EC’s: just listing major ones here, no sports :frowning:

Art (and a bit of writing):
-painted 20 x 4.5 ft mural at school encouraging kids to read, took ~90 hours, featured in newspapers, local tv (um, not very important?)
-Scholastic Art And Writing National Silver Medal (1 of 9 people to win in comic art category)
-Media Editor of Interrobang (lit mag) (9,10,11,12) which has won state recognition, I manage layout, publication, and graphic design aspects and drew the cover last year.
-Designed multiple T-shirts for clubs (Calc class, stem savvy, interrobang)
-Honorable mention at Juried Miniature National Art Exhibition (1 of maybe 15 people out of 400 submissions total?)
-Scholastic Honorable Mention for Video Game (which I programmed, wrote, drew, and performed for), + 3 other H.M’s this year, Gold Key in 2008
-Published in Teen Ink
-Children’s art camp volunteer- 30 hours
-audited figure drawing class at LAC- 2011
-Completed Nanowrimo 2009
-Tyler Precollege Art Program 2011
-Alternate for Marie Walsh Sharpe Summer Seminar (worth mentioning?)
-National Art Honor Society-10,11,12 (activities manager, co-president)

Will self-publish a children’s book this year, joining my interests of art, biomed. engineering, and a little bit of astronomy. It will be 30 pages, full color, and awesome. Coming to Amazon this November! (gimme your moneys) Will send a free copy to some of my colleges.

Music:
-Piano for 11 years
-Member of Wednesday Club (auditioned music organization)- all 4 years of school
-Played in Benefit concert for Haiti
-Accompanist for school orchestra, county chorus
-Webmistress for Local Children’s Choir (30 hours overall)
-Auditing Piano Studio Class at local lac

Math/Science:
-STEM Savvy club for girls-10,11,12 (probable Pres. senior year)
-summer science program (SSP) 2012
-Pharmacy assistant- 70 hours, help file scripts, do refills
-AMC 12 score: 85.5 (should I even send?) AMC 10: 103.5
-Math Counts State Competition 2009
-Bucknell Engineering Summer Program 2011

…well, um, interest is mostly in my coursework? I might be forgetting something. research is nearly impossible at my school, though I think I’ll try for some math research next year.

Misc. Volunteering (overlaps with other EC’s as above):
-Key club (VP Senior year) (11,12)- 35
-National Honor Society (11,12) (probable VP senior year)- 20

sorry for being long. :> Thanks for browsing.

How are you going to do modern physics without ODEs?

But good stats and stuff ;)

Girl+engineering = 3xAcceptance rate

I’m a Quaker and will be attending Penn’s SAS in the fall. When I toured a year ago, however, I was planning on majoring in biomedical engineering, so I toured the engineering department extra. I was really impressed. Good luck.

@des: thanks :stuck_out_tongue: what are ODE’s? also, two other guys from my grade are taking that class, so it shouldn’t be too bad…it’s level 201 or something

@goldenboots: thanks, but I don’t think it’s that unique anymore. Gotta prepare for the worst!

Differential equations. I was going to take the modern class at my local school but they required them so I just figured it was a normal prerequisite.

-checks- well, this is awkward. the class in the fall semester which my compadres are taking is a level 200, but the spring semester is a level 100, even though they have the same name. o_o um, it doesn’t say anything about differential equations, so that’s good, but i dunno if it’d be too easy… oh well, who cares, I’m only doing it for enrichment anyway, since college apps would be over by then.

I guess I could always pick a comp sci, or another math class. physics is so conveniently in the evening, though… FFFFFF

bumpaty bump
