Ok, So I got into cal for fall 09 into engineering. I was looking through the admission site today, and they want me to send my transcript from HS and community college by july 15. Problem is, I have a D on my CC transcript… I took guitar class 100% for fun, and got a D in fall. The class was not for any kind of credit, just for fun, but I sucked at guitar and got a D. All my other classes at CC are As or Bs, they are all also for fun.

My question, when they say they want Cs or higher, do they mean coursework that I’m doing for credit in HS? or does this extracurricular classes count also? what should I do?

LOL, a D in guitar ? hahahaha

unless you listed it on your UC app - don’t worry bout it. if you did, im sure they won’t care since 1. its not an A-G class 2. its a guitar class…

but yeah you should tell them asap…

I wish I could laugh about it, but I dunno…
on my UC app under extracurricular activities one of the things I wrote was that I took a beginner guitar class. God, I hope that stupid class doesn’t screw anything up…

It shouldn’t screw anything up if its not in the a-g classes

lol how’d you get a D in guitar? Did you try playing with your toes or something?

lol na, I just screwed up the chords and wasn’t very good with my fingers…

I actually wrote down “beginner guitar” as one of my “coursework other than a-g” on my uc app. And I got a D… can I get rescinded?

why in the world would you put a class you got a D in on your application…?

it could matter, but in all likelihood you’ll be fine. Just contact them asap. Don’t wait until july 15 to send in your transcripts and wait to see if something bad happens.

I didn’t know I’d get a D… the guitar final screwed me over bad!

thanks for the advice, I will try calling them ASAP

lol the guitar final…

Has anybody actually been rescinded with one D? I mean, they say as long as you stay away from D’s, you won’t get rescinded, but I’ve never even heard of anybody getting rescinded with an actual D.

O god, I have. A friend of mine last year got into cal, but slacked off like mad 2nd semester. Ended up getting a D in AP Bio, and boom - revoked. He’s been depressed ever since.

In my situation, the class I got a D in is not a class I took for credits, only to learn guitar because I thought it was a cool skill and it pulled a lot of chicks… lmao

nevertheless, im hella worried

^Loooooooooooool same situation with my friend. He got into Cal, but he now has a D in bio…LOOOOOOOL

LOL at this thread in general.

Let them know, but I wouldn’t be worried. [:

Its pretty hard to get a d even if you slack off

I’m sure you’re fine…I mean it’s a D in GUITAR. lol If it were an AP class, then that’s a different story.

yeah, I agree. You should be fine. :)

"In my situation, the class I got a D in is not a class I took for credits, only to learn guitar because I thought it was a cool skill and it pulled a lot of chicks… lmao "

Learning guitar to lure girls…No offense, that sounds like two creepers I know…

Oh crap. now I’m worried about my best friend. She got a D in Calc last semester… I really hope she can still go to Cal with me.

Lmao learn guitar to pull chicks. You need to watch Collegehumor’s video about playing guitar and getting girls. It’s how I learned it…;P
