I assumed the supplemental application gets sent with the main application...

I submitted my main application for Lafayette College at around 11:50 P.M. central time on New Years Day, the deadline for Lafayette’s application. When I went to the ‘submit’ section of the commonapp wesbite, I checked Lafayette’s box, checked the three certification questions, and then finally hit the ‘submit’ button on the bottom. It said I was successful, and then asked me to pay the $60 fee. I did that, and it said I was successful.

I assumed I was done. I assumed when I checked Lafayette’s box that it would send everything I had done for Lafayette on the commonapp wesbite, including the supplement.

…I was obviously wrong.

I found out that I forgot to submit the supplemental the next day (which is today) at around 3:00 P.M. central time, which is 15 hours after the 1/1 deadline. So, I submitted it and then sent an email to Lafayette asking if my application could still be reviewed despite my mistake that caused me to send the supplement 15 hours late.

I believe I read that most colleges will still take applications sent a ‘reasonable’ time after the deadline. Is this true, and what is reasonable? One hour? One day? Three days?

I think you should be fine. Correct me if I’m wrong, but colleges usually give you a grace period of one or two weeks I believe.

15 hours is nothing to stress about. don’t worry.

I think the grace period is only for recommendations, which aren’t in your direct control.

But in reference to the above, most places allow up to 24 hours-ish because of potential difficulties, and just because they have souls…

…and because they want to decrease their acceptance rate, lol

but I will be fine for sure?

Most schools would probably be fine as long as you submitted it within 24 hours or so. The 1-2 weeks is for recs/transcripts over which you have little control…
