bump~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I’m in HS and don’t have any really substantiated information for you except to say that I too am looking for a like career (though I’d much prefer trading/PE) and that I’d expect that Stanford students–like those of HYP–would receive ample recruiting opportunities. While New York is all the way across the country, America’s other financial Mecca, San Fransisco, is right around the corner for summer internships.

I’m not a Cali resident either, but I’ve heard that it is more than difficult for students to become state residents.

actually ya i-banks recruit supa heavy on campus; i’ve been to most of the career fairs and a wide variety of banks are represented and the recruiters seem guininely excited to talk to students. plus, a lot of stanford students go on to work for i-banks so they also will email lists if the bank they’re going to work is having an info session or something

thanks guys!

and since i’m canadian, i’ve heard that US internships are only for residents?
is that true?
imo Canadians are as close to Americans as it can ever get (of course i know we are both unique and stuff)

my friend who got into berkely this year told me if you stay in cali for 1year, you become a cali resident therefore its easier to find jobs? is it true?

thx

Lol, you can become a resident of cali in one year if you prove to them that you plan to live there. However, if you are a student you are not allowed to become a resident unless you prove you will ive there after colelge as well.

o thx sheed

how do i prove that tho?
ps i do want to live there for my whole life if i can XD

you don’t need to be a californian resident or an american citizen to get an internship for the summer or a job after graduation with a top firm, trust me on that - i’m international

I am graduating senior this year and also a Canadian citizen, non-US resident. As for internship, some companies only accept residents, but most banking companies also accept foreigners. (I did internship in NY) And yes, ibanks recruit heavily from Stanford. A LOT of my friends are going into the finance industry including ibanking/sales and trading and PE. I will be going into PE area.

iBanks recruit at Stanford but more so at Wharton, NYU, Harvard, Yale and MIT.

Woah, that’s a pretty strong statement. “More so”, especially compared to Wharton or Harvard? I would like to see proof of that.

You all mention Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, etc…, but do not forget about some of the most sought after economics students at the University of Chicago!

Actually, most people don’t ever forgets that.
