I bought my Christmas present - Fit Bit! Anyone use this?

Husband doesn’t know he’s giving to me yet. I’ll wrap it up this week and put it under the tree from him and let him know Christmas morning. I’m hoping this will get me motivated to MOVE this year! Anyone have one? Do you like it and use it?

There have been a few threads about the Fitbit. Here’s one: <a href=“Fit bit Questions - Parent Cafe - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/1710601-fit-bit-questions-p1.html</a></p>

D has one and loves it–wants an upgrade.

Oh my - guess I was so excited to know I’m getting something I actually wanted I forgot to search! Thank you!

I love my Fitbit! It has really helped me lose 35 lb this past year. I got mine for Christmas last year also.

I have a jawbone UP and I like it - but I refuse to sleep with it on. I can log my excercise sessions, weight, and it tracks my steps and syncs with my ipad… and my sis-in-law has one and is on my team so we can share data. It is making me walk more and keeping me honest! I am not sure how different it is from the fitbit, but i know it doesn’t have a gps.

My son has one and really likes it. It has been helping him walk a lot. He started putting on weight for the first time ever when a promotion meant he was sitting more instead of on the move at work. The fit it has helped. I’ve been thinking I’d like one - I really need to start moving.

He also does swing shifts and finds it interesting to see how disturbed his sleep is (well, he knew it was disturbed but seeing it on whatever it is he sees it on is interesting)

I love my fitbit! I have the version that tracks stairs climbed in addition to regular steps, which is especially great as an NYC resident

I looked at fit bits, they looked great, but I got an Omron 321 triaxle I liked. It’s a pedometer that I carry on my key chain. It is really fun and motivating. I bought it to loose a few lbs and encourage exercising. It did both. On a whim I enrolled H and I in a 10k. So fun!

Love my fit bit, just wish I had a heart rate monitor, because even walking 10.000 steps and more at times, at the slow rate I go, isn’t as healthful for me. But, it’s really a great device!

What else can they do measuring step and stairs climbed? My iphone already does that but for weight, I have to put it in myself. If it can track my weight, pulse, and other vital automatically,

I’ve got a Polar Flow–it’s an activity monitor (bracelet style) that gives you steps, calories, and time. You can pair it with a Polar chest strap and get heart rate. There’s an app for the iPhone and you can see your activity level for the day.The Ap is very cool. The only thing I don’t like about it is that you have to charge it every 4-5 days. I got it because I already had a Polar heart rate monitor watch. I think the Fit Bit and all of these activity monitors are great motivation. Even a simple pedometer is good when you start getting active.

My husband and son use the iPhone app and tracked our walking all over campus on game days - we walked a lot! But it didn’t seem as convenient and had less features. I’m hoping just glancing at my wrist and not digging thru my purse will help me move spontaneously.
