I’m quite excited, thank you very much! I know we’ve had similar discussions from a few years back, but I hadn’t purchased a designer bag yet. Through the 25th, they are all 25% off by the way…how could I resist? And this lovely was more discounted than that. I saw it in our high end mall in the spring and summer at full price, thinking I’d love to have for my fall birthday (which is in 2 months so this is my gift to myself). Since it was marketed for that season, I guess that’s why it discounted more, but I think it looks fallish. Hobo type bags are my fav. I wish the strap were a couple inches longer and there was a separator in the middle, but the grommets sold me.
I never carried a designer bag until this summer when I got my fun coach. Now that’s all I want to carry. I don’t know why, but there it is. Honestly, $149!
I love the grommets on the strap. I also went ahead and ordered the garnet, as that’s my favorite color, but there are a lot of bags out there in that color. The green was so unique. I’ll decide which one when they arrive. DH said to keep both, but I’d rather have a different type.
I also bought this as my smaller purse when I need one. I like to take a neutral on vacation with me. I like the color of the chain. It doesn’t scream silver or gold, it sort of takes on the hue of jewelry you are wearing.
Yes, I know. The green is the one I saw this spring at full price, so I’m excited it’s on sale. It’s such a unique color you don’t see everyday, I ordered the garnet just in case.
Hopefully the sizes and compartments meet your needs. It looks like they zipper closed- a must have so contents can’t spill.
I dislike most high end name stuff due to lack of being good looking and/or functional for my purposes. I dislike those with initials all over- those are not pretty.
Come on @wis75. Someone comes on cc all excited about a purchase and you have to chime in and tell them they picked a ‘nauseating’ color. Not nice. There’s a saying, if you don’t have anything nice to say…
@conmama — how fun for you to have found purses you love.
I’ve mostly been sticking with a featherweight nylon black backpack S gave me because it’s one of the rare items he’s given me, doesn’t show dirt and lets me keep my hands free.
I do have a few purses I enjoy and rotate through from time to time. Most are on the smaller side.
It’s such a great feeling to get something that you’ve wanted for a long time. Also, what a sweetheart you have for a H to encourage you to get two purses! I bet that made you feel good too.
Once, while Mr. and I were taking a shortcut through the Nordstrom to get to the movie theater, I spotted a Kate Spade bag… it was love at first sight. The pattern was called “Cats and Cream.” I immediately put on my brakes, turned around, grabbed it off the display, marched to the nearest register, and paid for it. Still love it.
How do you all keep the leather on the underside of your handles from rubbing off? I carried my coach bag exclusively using the handles and not the straps this summer. I didn’t use a protector or anything.
The leather has rubbed/cracked off somewhat where I hold it. Thankfully it’s not noticeable to anyone but me as it’s not up the edges of the handles. Next summer I’d like to put something over it.
Do you all spray a protector on your leather purses before using.

In June I received a Michael Kors purse as an end of the year gift from a student’s parent. I gave it to my son’s girlfriend. She loved it and I loved that she loved it!
So, I’m terrible in the early morning hours when I online shop. I just found another one that I’m in LOVE with…I mean love. So I ordered it and this fits my taste for the wine/cranberry color and some bling. It’s not a hobo, but I don’t care. I’ve never had a bucket bag, but it has a separate compartment which I like.
@conmama - Congratulations! I hope you love them. And yes, I agree both that your DH is a sweetheart for saying “keep both” and also that you might like to pick your other color in a new style.
BTW - Michael Kors was for me a “gateway drug” to handbags. The next one was Dooney and Bourke, heh heh.

@fretfulmother , after I told DH about my purses he responded that he was such a good shopper! I think 3 purses is enough for one birthday, that’s not even here yet! Haha
I bought an olive green crossbody coach bag at the outlet years ago. I still carry it and without fail I will get compliments on what a great color that bag is. I love that green bag @conmama!
Now you have decisions to make, no bad choices there.
For years, I’ve wanted a Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack. This summer I finally pulled the trigger on a taupe colored one. I love it! And I’m happy I finally bought it! I get lots of compliments also which doesn’t hurt!
