I broke down: AP tragedy

Ok, so my goal was to get to National AP Scholar by the end of Junior year; I have already taken two tests before AP Euro and AP Human (5 on both).

This year I took:

AP Environmental (Self-study)
AP Psychology
AP US History
AP US Gov (self-study)
AP Lang

I am confident I got 4’s and 5’s on those.

However, today, as I am writing this, I’m supposed to take AP Macroeconomics. I tried studying last night but I was just plain exhausted and couldn’t learn anything, so in the end I’m not taking it today.

Honestly, there’s nothing in the world like the feeling of setting a goal and falling short by one test. I wanted to stand out by getting that award so I can show colleges during app season I have what it takes. I felt like this was the only way I could distinguish myself from my peers at school. I don’t know how much it matters for college admissions, but I was trying to shoot for it cuz I thought it would be beneficial.

gahh, F school! Now I’m done with this testing bs, I can play Starcraft! :D

same position dude. Took 4 tests, did alright. Now macro. Oh well. I guess I’ll take it, but I’m not too confident about my scores. BTW you can still get the award, just do it next year!

The difference between 4 tests and 5 tests is not much. Don’t stress out about it. The award isnt that significant since colleges already look at how you do

^ Hey man, good luck on that test. Yea, I know I can get the award next year but I wanted to get it this year so I can put it on my app. Oh well, life moves on

Thanks. Have fun with starcraft! :stuck_out_tongue:
Colleges will see that you worked hard, dont worry about that. The award is just a piece of paper that says so, but its not required to see that you put your best effort out there

Same. I have 7 now (but it’s not like I got a 4 on Chem anyways… ).

You did all the easy ones, so I doubt you will stand out.

^lol? euro, gov, ush, and lang arent that easy. you bombed ap stat, which isnt that hard, so you’re in no position to judge anyone.

wait is there not a make-up day for the macroecon exam?

so you arent taking the makeup?

Lol @ Greedisgood. the OP self studied for 2 of those and i really think colleges care much regarding WHAT ap exams were taken, unless the OP is going for a math/science major. Anyway, people have varying strengths, thus some consider Calc BC to be a very easy exam yet human geo to be difficult.

But please continue with the ignorant posts, they are entertaining.

I have no idea how to get a make-up test date, I just didn’t show up to the test today cuz I was exhausted and had a final in my class at school.

How exactly do you get a make-up test? I would love to have the opportunity to take it but I don’t know how to go about arranging one…

Wow, I am in almost the exact same position as you (self-studied Micro/Macro this year to get NAPS). The only difference is that I actually DID take Macro today (after a total of about 3 hours of preparation), and I’m expecting a two… :stuck_out_tongue: So when I apply to colleges next year, do I get to choose which AP scores I send, or will they see all of them? I’m not sure if I should my cancel my score or not.

@tor… - For makeup, you already have to send it in March or so. That’s what I did. Cause I had to take Ap world.
@Andr…- I think you can choose?

@ Andrew

don’t worry dude, on the common app you can choose which one you can put.

I didn’t bomb AP Stat, on the contrary I’m pretty sure I got a 5.

And yes, I think most people would agree those are the “soft” APs. It is going to just look like you are padding your application.

Cancel the test. There’s a $13 fee, so you’ll get what you paid for - 13

When you apply to colleges, you will get to choose what tests colleges will and will not see. No official reports are required until you are actually trying to apply for AP credit at the college you end up going to.

Plus, AP scholar recognition isn’t something outstanding. Thousands of applicants have it. It’s not an “oh my goodness we will admit this kid!” sort of thing. And like the above poster said, you are NOT supposed to send AP scores to schools other than
Your matriculating school.

I wouldn’t agree with that.
AP scores aren’t an integral part of an application, but I’m sure it would be somewhat impressive if you scored well on them, especially if you’re not going to the uber-selective places.

Yes, but not having “AP Scholar” distinction doesn’t mean you’re not a very good student.
