The thing is though, there’s no shortage of young girls. I mean a lot of 8 year-old-girls are already aware of him and love him. He’ll be a exception, his far too popular.

^ Exactly, if you watched the movie you’d see that he has like 40 year old women without kids going to see him. I mean I’m seventeen and I’m not a huge bubblegum pop fan but I’m a total belieber. But I do feel like he’s going to change a lot over the next couple of years and this is his make it or break it time.

That’s what they always say “so and so is way to popular” You can be huge today but a nobody tomorrow. For crying out loud the Backstreet Boys were über popular in their hey-day, but now they aren’t as popular and are just a nostalgia trip. People will get tired of him, he is overexposed.

Once another teen star comes out he will be phased out, this always happens.

Lawl, this is true.

We require a raving Bieber-hater to make this lolzy.

How can you compare the backstreet boys to Justin? Justin is like 100times more popular than them. Although they were popular, they aren’t really in his league. And plenty of people have tried to replace him, Rebecca Black Devin Fox etc. Take Chris Brown and multiply his fan base by 20 and you get Justin Bieber. Chris Brown is still going strong after 6 years or something, I doubt Justin won’t.

He might be popular, but he sucks.

For some very strange reason, I actually like most of his songs. At the same time, I listen N.W.A., Tupac, The script, The Naked And Famous, Miley Cyrus, The Golden Age, Adele, Matt and Kim, Florence and the machine, Johnny Cash, Journey and chumbawamba. No idea why my music taste varies so much.

^^Not in his league!! The boys were heaps more popular than him. Justin is more popular in N. America then he is internationally. The boys were known world over, they even sold more albums than Justin. Kid you need to learn your music history.

And Chris was targeted to a more general audience than a teenage female base audience.

Justin just started 2 years ago. Also, unlike the old days popularity isn’t determined by number of record sales. We have something called the Internet. Also, Justin is very, very popular in Europe especially in UK and Germany and even France. I wouldn’t Chris Brown targeted general audience more likely young (16-30) female base.

“His debut release, My World, followed on November 17, 2009, and was eventually certified platinum in the United States. He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100”

Are you sure, because Taylor Swift has a massive teen fan base, but she manages to sell a crapload of records, a million in a week even. She is obviously an artist who can last longer than Justin. Justin doesn’t have that lasting power, his video may have a lot of views but he is really hated. He won’t last that long. He’s gonna be replaced by another young guy.

Taylor Swift isn’t really as popular as Justin as well. Justin pretty much secures most of Swift’s fan base. Also, his more liked than his hated. And you know what they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity. It’s hard for someone like Justin to just die in 5 years, it’ll take at least 10 years. A lot of people are one-hit wonders like Susan Boyle.

[Taylor Swift / Justin bieber - Google Fight : make this fight with googlefight !](http://www.googlefight.com/index.php?lang=en_GB&word1=Taylor+Swift&word2=Justin+bieber)

Country Music usually sells better than any other genre(because people are more likely to actually buy country music instead of illegally downloading it)

And at the time when the backstreet boys were releasing songs the entire music industry was different. They didn’t even have mp3 players and the only way to buy music was to buy a physical cd. Music piracy wasn’t as big of a factor.

Trust me when I say his career won’t last. Be here in five years and we can see how he is doing.

Do you mean his career won’t last like Britney Spears’? Because technically she is still performing but she is looked at much differently. I think he’ll be doing something probably music related but I don’t think he’ll be the kid that’s 22 years old still singing teenage love songs.

Not in her terms, but in terms of career success. Of course his music will change, he will be all innocent now, but his music will get a bit more sexual as he gets older.
