-Danced at the Rocky Mountain School of Dance for 4-5 years; this team has won a lot of awards. My friend herself has won 3rd places in national dancing competitions, and her team’s won 1st in areas before.

She volunteers to teach dancing to little kids.

She also tutors math.

-4.0 GPA, not sure weighted

-NHS for 3 years.

Um, I think that’s all I can think of for now…

All the UCs are reaches because you’re from Colorado. UCLA would be a BIG reach even if you were instate. USC and Boulder are both probably reaches as well.

Get those scores up!

bump-idy bump bump

bump

bump

UCLA: High reach
UC - Santa Barbra: Low Reach
UC - Long Beach: Low Reach
UC - San Diego: Reach
University of Souther California: Reach
University of Nevada - Las Vegas: not sure
University of Denver: not sure
University of Colorado - Boulder: match

Wait, one question.
There is a UC Long Beach? Unless you mean CSULB. But then, why would a person from Colorado want to go to a Cal State?

Uh, yeah that’s the one I meant, I think.

And I don’t know; I guess she just loves California that much.

I’m from California and I think she definitely means CSULB…I’m not aware of a UC Long Beach. And I live in Long Beach. :)

But I’m applying to CSULB, and I know some kids that have gotten in that had worse GPA’s/scores than you, so I think you have a good chance except that I don’t know how the in-state/out-of-state standing will affect you.

Not to discourage your friend, but it is very unlikely she will be admitted to UCLA, UCSB, or UCSD. I don’t think she should apply to any state or UC schools. The odds are against out-of-staters.

However, if she loves california that much, she should apply to some privates! With her ACT, GPA, and Ecs she certainly has a shot.

Some suggested schools:

pepperdine university- match
loyola marymount university-match
chapman university-match
university of southern california (this one is a reach for her, but it’s still worth a shot)

I didn’t catch her intended major, but LMU and Chapman have a dance major. While the others have good implementation of dance in their colleges.

Oh, and yes hairspray was good-John Travolta. lol

Yeah see, I don’t really know anyone who goes to out-of-state schools because obviously we’re all from the same area.
