I can definitely tell the difference between good French butter and other butter. I have become quite the butter snob. No reason to waste calories on ok butter when I can get fabulous French butter to have with baguettes and croissants ![]()
Coincidentally, I am reading Butter by Asako Yuzuki, a novel about a female Japanese serial killer who’s obsessed with…butter. So far so good!
Costco sells butter from New Zealand under its Kirkland brand. I bought it once but I couldn’t really tell the difference. Store brand wherever I shop is fine with me.
I haven’t been able to find the Kirkland butter the last two times I’ve gone to Costco. KerryGold, yes, but you’d think the Kirkland butter would be right next to it.
And it’s not on their website either. I wonder if they’ve stopped making it.
We bought Kirkland butter last month. 1st D bought the one that is in 1lb slabs & I returned it & bought unsalted in 1/4# sticks. There was lots in salted & unsalted, slabs & sticks at our Costco.
This happens from time to time at our store. Disappears for a bit and then comes back.
Maybe the cows have to catch up.

I think it’s supply & demand. Lots of holiday baking!
The scary thing is it appears to be at least loosely based on a true story!
D and I are huge honey butter fans. We’re kinda particular about it - we like to mix it up ourselves but we don’t overmix. We love having chunks of butter in the mix, and using it cold and piled on vs thinly spread so you bite into those lovely smooth but firm chunks of butter while eating.
