I cant afford all this stuff

I recently transfered to a big university after my first year at another college. I’m 19 and already working 30 hours a week.

I have to drive 30miles a day to and from school because I live at home (This is about 30-40 bucks a week)

I have to pay 4 dollars a day to park because this school charges for everything. (This is the cheapest short term method btw. A yearly pass is 500 dollars…)

I’ve yet to even buy any books because im trying to judge which ones will be important.

My FASFA records got messed up and now I owe 3500 dollars over the next 3 months. The first payment is due in 9 days and I don’t have 1,200 dollars to throw at it.

I don’t see any positive outcome from this situation AT ALL.

If you think your FAFSA is incorrect, get it fix!

We would need additional information in order to assist you. What is the breakdown of your financial aid award? Have you already taken out the max loans for this school year? Can your parents pay for the $3500 or take a Plus loan out for it?

It is very unclear what you mean by this statement. What happened? Have you asked the FA office about it?

Do your arithmetic carefully on that parking. At $500 a year, that would be about $50 a month for each of ten months. I’m not sure why you think paying by the day will be less costly. Plus…if you leave the parking area, and come back more than once on the same day (say you want to do a study group or something) you will be paying again.

RE: your FAFSA…if YOU messed it up, you will need to figure out some way to reconcile your money owed.

Find out if you can drop out now and not owe anything. If you can, that may be best. Is it too late to go a second year at the local CC?

What do you mean when you say that your FAFSA got messed up? do you mean that it was “corrected” after verification so now your aid has changed? if so, it is what it is. If it was corrected after verification then the new result could be correct. Sometimes the correction is because of tax reporting…people reporting that they paid a lot more taxes than they actually did after they got their return check. (You’d be surprised how many people put down that they paid XXXX in taxes, while forgetting that they got a check back for XXXX…and the net result was much, much lower…so their EFC changes… )

For you to lose $3500 in aid for this semester, it sounds like you were Pell and SEOG qualified and then lost the aid after a FAFSA change.
