I want to go to a college in California so I can stay close to home. However, I also want to major in genetics which is not a common major at many schools Is it possible to create my own major in genetics?
UCI and UCD offer undergrad degrees in Genetics. You should also look for Cell Biology/Molecular Biology/Microbiology undergrad programs that could fit your interests. I know the Pitzer College will allow you design your own major (with departmental approval) if these type of courses are available. The study of Genetics is more of a graduate school program.
