tell us what schools you loved less than YALE!

Ummm… why don’t we NOT list the schools we turned down for Yale.

I, for one, was very pleased that the other schools wanted me and offered me a spot. Ultimately Yale did as well and they wooed me enough for me to make it my first choice. I’m forever grateful for being a Yale graduate.

That being said, let’s avoid any gloating, eh?

I never once spoke to a fellow student (or subsequent alum) about my HS accomplishments (GPA, SATs, etc.). We were mostly very grateful to be enjoying the gift of a Yale education. To disparage others who weren’t so fortunate was frankly, tacky.

The same alums and students of the “schools you love less than Yale” will be your workmates, employers and employees. Will likely be your spouse, your kids’ teachers, and indeed – even your kids.

Very good advice.

YEAHHHHHH! I LOOOVEE Yalies! I made the same comment a few days ago on the Stanford thread and they chewed me out… but here I don’t even need to do it first.

@eatingfood, CONGRATS on a fantastic decision! I’m sure you understand what T26E4 is espousing and don’t take his comment personally.

@everyone else
Those are words of great wisdom. To all those who accepted, welcome to an incredible community that has such values.

@booyaksha,

You did not make the same comment as what T26E4 did, who showed great respect to other people and schools, you used “tasteless” etc to show your pride. I never say anything bad about Yale because they accepted my S through SCEA. We are always grateful to that.

ewho, it is fine that you have a personal bias against me, although I don’t know why besides that I turned down Stanford a while ago. (I also have defended Stanford as “the second best school in my opinion” so even that choice seems overstated). Essentially, you seem very quick to jump on me over nothing.

I posted absolutely nothing positive about Yale or negative about Stanford – or any person – in my other post so I don’t know why you were so shrill and defensive. I, admittedly, used the word “tasteless” instead of “tacky” and the word “gloat” instead of “disparage.” Perhaps I did not initially enumerate all of the reasons quite as well as T26E4, but I thought you would be smart enough to reason why. I had a nearly identical motivation behind my post and I did not attack anyone or any institution or praise Yale.

I’m sorry but the word “tasteless” is not an expression of pride or an insult to a particular school if that’s the best you can come up with. (Perhaps you should reread my posts; I explicitly acknowledged that I was attacking “these types of threads as a whole” rather than attacking anyone/anything)

Maybe you should just take a chill pill and not create conflict or malevolence where absolutely none existed.

The inferiority complex is kicking in already and its not even months before school starts!

Ok i’ll stop now :-)
