A room at the back of the house with big windows, as I recall, was used by the daughter as an art studio. Nice spot for inspiration.

I could live here:

Waterfront rules. Torn between the ocean and sandy beach and the boat docks and twinkling lights of a harbor view. Either one requires a massive lottery win.

This is the house I want. H and L looked at it last summer. It’s been on the market for at least 2 years and went from 1.2M to $699K. When we looked last summer it was $750K. I assume it must be owned by an estate given the constantly dropping price.

Needs a whole new kitchen but other than that it’s perfect.

I’m not even a big fan of these types of homes but this one caught my fancy. I usually go for very modern design. .

Gorgeous water views there Emilybee - I can see why you like it!

Is it hurnted?

Here’s one near me. It’s not too much, is it ![]()

I get that architecture and interior design is really subjective, but jeez, who pissed in your cheerios?

Can you post a dream house you WOULD consider absolutely perfect, or at least that you would love?

I like all types of architecture, but ultimately, one has to choose. I love a house with a water view. Even better would be a house with a water AND mountain view. With the right view, I think I could transform just about any house to my personal taste, which is probably considered transitional. I like the newer styles, but it has to be comfortable. I’ve done pretty but impractical, and it doesn’t work in the long run.

@musicamusica, I could settle for that Paris apartment as a second home! I love the high ceilings.

Is it hurnted?

I am guessing you meant haunted.

Not that I know of and the houses history is fairly well known It was built for the River Master (port of Albany is about 5 miles up river.)

Maybe it’s be down to $599 by next summer. We’ll be done paying tuition by then, too.

Ohh, I want to play. I spend way too much time searching for horrible, distressed houses in terrible condition for my work. I never get to daydream for my dream house. Has to have water views, although if it was in Hawaii some mountain views would be fine.

@musiacamusica, that Paris apartment just killed me. (In a good way.)

Keep that house drooling coming, please. This is a much nicer place to be than that rape at UV thread!

I thought I was the only one who like to look at “house porn” (my husband’s term) on the internet! I’ve been looking at waterfront properties in Florida and Texas on white sand beaches…

I’m super tempted to reveal a giant coincidence occasioned by this thread, but I’m afraid it would reveal too much personal info. :-)

Serious “house porn” here–

Just the right size, could live entirely on the first floor if necessary, the upstairs would be my craft room, love the kitchen, near the water, and surprisingly reasonable for this area.

Notelling, somebody highlighted your house?

You shouldn’t answer this. :)

Not my house …

Oh well…

Would have been a good story. :)

I kind of like the houses that are “reasonably” priced in this thread.

It is not hard to like a $15 million house.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but some of these houses have “haunted” written all over them to me, especially the 1851 plantation house in Virginia. I can just hear the voices of former planters and their slaves sighing, whispering, crying throughout the rooms and hallways of that house. Just looking at the facade of that house gave me the heebies. Yes, the older I get, the more convinced I become that ghosts actually exist. What’s rational got to do with anything…?

^^^ I am a believer–Nantucket Island has more pre-Civil War homes than any other area in the US (at least that’s the claim). We have vacationed here for years and rented a few antiques before buying. Many weird experiences–stuff gets moved over night, tapping sounds on walls, etc. One time my son-in-law woke up in the middle of the night and saw a person sitting in a chair. ( He is not one to exaggerate.) SonIL said he felt a presence. I know I sound like a fruitcake when I say stuff like this
