I could live here.............

Soho, anyone? At $25 million, this one is half the price of the most expensive one listed in the NY Times. <a href=“Real Estate - The New York Times”>Real Estate - The New York Times;

^^ I don’t want to buy a $25M condo that is UNDER the Penthouse. No wonder its half price.

I don’t love the kitchen. Too dark (though I like that style kitchen.)

ebee

^^Not sure if that IS the kitchen or the bar. After 25 Million, you don’t need a kitchen.

Went to a reception in SF, the owner of the house had a kitchen that is for display only. The real kitchen is on another floor, with servants quarters.

^ Well, it has double ovens, a cook top in the island and the huge refrigerator. Even if it is only a for display kitchen, I don’t like it. It is too dark.

The only FLW house in NYC is located in the neighborhood I grew up in. It is also home to the Staten Island Rear Range Lighthouse, one of the last brick built lighthouses in the US and the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art. And the neighborhood is only, basically, three street up on a hill.

The FLW house sold for over $800,000 in 2002 and had over 50 roof leaks! There is a NYTimes article about the house. I tried to link it, but couldn’t, or didn’t know how to, do it on my iPad. The house is referred to as Pre-Fab #1 as it was made in the mid-west and shipped to NYC.

The original owners, the people I knew growing up, used to offer tours of the house a few times a year for a fee. The money was donated to a charity that was affiliated with the disability of one of their children.

VaBluebird, it’s a great location, but even so, it’s an extremely high price. You can get a beautiful, updated 4-bedroom townhouse in the neighborhood for that much. That’s why I suspect that the lot is amenable to some kind of multi-family construction. Or maybe this property is the last piece of a puzzle that will allow someone to build a high-rise?

The neighborhood is extremely dense (which is part of the reason it’s so desirable; you can walk to all kinds of great restaurants, shopping, theater, and parks, like in Manhattan). So a big empty lot is a rarity.
